SUBJECT: BES SPECIAL BLAST - Mindful Mondays

Mindful Mondays

Beaumont Elementary School’s staff members are celebrating mindfulness through the month of January with Mindful Mondays. Nemours KidsHealth.org defines mindfulness by stating, “Being mindful means having your mind on what you are doing. It's the opposite of rushing or doing too many things at once. To be mindful, you slow down to take your time. You do one thing at a time. You focus on what you’re doing in a calm way.” By using this definition, Mindful Mondays will focus on building self-esteem, stress management, and promote problem-solving skills to develop healthy physical, mental, and social health habits for staff and students. These skills are connected to PA Physical and Health Education State Standards. Each Monday in January (8th, 22nd, and 29th ) you can participate by doing the following:

 

  1. Wear your comfy clothes to school! (Let’s kick off practicing mindfulness by being your most comfortable)
  2. Whole-school Mindfulness Activity (Led by Mrs. McConaghy from 9:25-9:30am over the loudspeaker)
  3. Mindfulness Skills Video (Will be reviewed by each class facilitated by the classroom teacher. The themes for each week are below.)
    1. January 8, 2024: What is Mindfulness and Why is it important?
    2. January 22, 2024: Mindful Breathing
    3. January 29, 2024: Mindful Movement
